This year's Costume Institute exhibition is "Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations." The exhibit explores the many similarities between Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada, two incredible Italian designers from two different eras. The exhibition showcases about ninety designs and thirty accessories by Schiaparelli from the late 1920s to the early 1950s and by Prada from the late 1980s to the present. The exhibit is on view May 10-August 19.

The red carpet was rolled out and the A-listers did not disappoint! There were so many best dressed, my favorites were Doutzen Kores, Diane Kruger, Eva Mendes, Kate Bosworth, Carey Mulligan, Dianna Agron, January Jones, and Camilla Belle. Who do you think is Best Dressed?

There has to be a worst dressed list and well mine was somewhat overflowing. Many people loved Beyone's over the top Givenchy gown, but I personally thought it was major overkill. I mean everyone knows that you were People's Most Beautiful Woman, but come on. Florence Welch in Alexander McQueen is difficult for me to look at, there is just waaaaay too much fabric happening. Um do I even need to say why I think Anja Raubik in Anthony Vaccarello is a worst dressed? Can we say "street-walker"? I don't even know what to say about all the bows on Lauren Santo Domingo in Oscar de la Renta. Kirsten Dunst in Rodarte looks like she is working on becoming Santa Claus's new wifey. Mary Kate Olsen in The Row lacks any kind of structure, excitement, or really anything good for the matter. And last but not least is Elizabeth Banks in Mary Katrantzou. Why Elizabeth, why? Maybe if the dress didn't have that high neck and shoulder thingy it could work, but there are just too many different patterns happening on such a pretty woman. Hopefully all of these lovely ladies have learned their lessons, hopefully...

Greek-Spiced Baked Shrimp

 

Hi friends, happy Friday!!  

I hope everyone had a great week! So, if you've been reading my blog from the beginning then you probably know by now that I love Greek food, well I guess I just love food in general. Tonight I made an amazing spicy Greek dish for my man, my dad, and a family friend. I found this recipe on Epicurious, decided I had to try it, but I made a few changes. This dish is super easy to make and only takes about 45 min. You can also choose how spicy you want it based on how much red pepper flakes you add. This dish is my kind of comfort food. The little hint of cinnamon and the feta cheese on top completes the entire meal, totally ahh.maz.ing!

Ingredients:

1 medium onion, chopped

4 garlic cloves, finely chopped

large handful of spinach 

1/2 tablespoon hot red-pepper flakes

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 can diced tomatoes in juice

1 pound large peeled and deveined shrimp

1/4 pound feta, crumbled (2/3 cup)

Directions: 

Preheat oven to 375°F with rack in middle. Cook onion and garlic in olive oil with 1/4 teaspoon salt in a saucepan over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Stir in spices and cook for 1 minute. Add chopped tomatoes and spinach and simmer on low, uncovered for about 15 minutes. Remove from heat. Season shrimp with 1/8 teaspoon salt, then stir into tomato sauce. Transfer to a baking dish and top with feta. Bake until just cooked through, 18 to 20 minutes. 

Serve over pasta or with rice and enjoy!

Clearly I am very excited to eat!

City Creek Charity Gala

Happy Friday lovers!! I hope you are all having a super awesome start to the weekend and are hopefully enjoying some nice weather. It's supposed to be in the 70's all weekend and I couldn't be happier!

On Wednesday evening I attended the City Creek Grand Opening Charity Event with my friend Amber. City Creek is a brand spanking new multi billion dollar shopping center in downtown Salt Lake. The charity gala raised $100,000 for four local charitable organizations, including The Road Home, Ballet West, Junior League of Salt Lake and Utah's Hogle Zoo. The sustainably designed shopping center spreads across three blocks, has fully retractable glass roofs (the first outside of Dubai!), and fountains that shoot water and bursts of flame while playing synchronized music (from the same company that designed the Bellagio fountain in Las Vegas). This is one hell of a mall!

The mall is owed by the LDS Church, partnered with Taubman Properties, and it is already being duped "the Mormon Mall", but hopefully it will be much more than that. In the last 10 years downtown Salt Lake has been suffering terribly, business after business has been closing and the streets have been nearly empty. City Creek brings a much needed new energy and excitement to downtown Salt Lake. City Creek is home to 80+ stores including Tiffany & Co., Coach, Nordstrom, Michael Kors, Porsche Design, Restoration Hardware, H&M, Macy's, and many more. The mall is also home to 425 new condos, 110 apartments, and a swanky new gym. 

I am so thrilled that I was lucky enough to attend the Charity Gala and preview all the new stores, but I won't be heading back for a couple weeks at least. I heard that opening day had more than 50,000 visitors with people starting to line-up outside at 2 am, yikes! Exciting things are happening in my home town, come check it out if you are ever visiting!

Heyoo! So I am back from San Diego and Utah welcomed me home with a lovely little snow storm. From flip flops to snow boots.... awesome. It did end up raining in San Diego which was a super big bummer but I still got a couple nice days. I had a great trip and it was good to see friends but I am glad to be home too. Sorry today's post is so short, I'm super busy, but I just wanted to share a couple pics with you guys. 

Tomorrow I am going to the opening gala of the new City Creek shopping center in Salt Lake. It should be a very fun event full of lots of shopping! Can't wait to tell you guys all about it!

Spring Wish List

Hi lovers. I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of in a crummy mood today. Remember how on my last post I was all stoked on the warm weather well now that warm weather has come and gone and it's all gray and crappy out. The wind is blowing mega hard and it's supposed to start raining any min. LAME! Buuuuut, I am headed to San Diego tomorrow for 6 days and I could not be more excited. I am going to visit my good buddy Nathan and to just get away from SLC for a bit. I am so stoked, all I want to do is put my feet in the ocean! If it rains while I am in San Diego I will seriously throw a full on temper tantrum. You hear that weather man, get it together and give me some warm sunny days!! (I'm hoping for 75° degrees, just fyi)

Style Envy Sunday: Olivia Palermo

What's up sugarbabes! How's everyone doing on this lovely Sunday? I am in just the most fantabulous mood today, it was an absolutely gorgeous warm day! I am so incredibly excited for spring that I can hardly contain it! I know that it's only mid March and here in Utah it usually snows off and on till April, but I am so over winter. Like really over it.

Anywho, I just recently realized that I haven't done a Style Envy Sunday post in freaking forever! I know, I'm a big time slacker. So Style Envy Sunday returns with the adorable socialite, model and actress Olivia Palermo. This Upper East sider is no newbie to the fashion scene, she is a regular at every runway show and VIP party in town. Some people have said that the character of 'Blair Waldorf' in Gossip Girl is based on Olivia and it's no doubt that this girl lives the good life. And um can we just talk for a min about how dashingly handsome her boyfriend, Johannes Huebl is.

As the newest face of Rochas perfume, it's pretty clear that Olivia seems to leave an impression on everything and everyone she meets. I absolutely love this gal's style, she is so effortlessly chic and glamorous.

Happy International Women's Day!

 Happy Thursday to all my fabulous readers! 

Today is a very important day, March 8 is International Women’s Day! International Women's Day is a day to acknowledge and celebrate the political, economic, and social advancements of women. This year’s theme is “Equal access to education, training and science and technology: Pathway to decent work for women.”

Today I want to share with you you guys all the amazing and oh so inspiring women in my life. I feel so blessed to have so many awesome ladies to share my life with!

So how should we celebrate this special day? Well for starters I suggest you go to International Rescue Committee's Wake Up site and sign their pledge supporting women and girls all around the world. Then gather any and all women in your life and go out for a drink, for lunch, a walk, go dancing, just be together. I'm going to gather with all my friends tonight and celebrate today by drinking some wine by a fire under the full moon.
